Karen Mulkijanyan is the Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry and Adviser on Technology Commercialization to aforesaid Institute’s Administration. He obtained his MS in Biochemistry in 1981 and PhD in Pharmacy in 2005. Dr. Mulkijanyan’s research interests include studying the pharmacology of anti-inflammatory and wound healing drugs and analysis and prediction of structure-activity relationship of natural, modified and synthesized compounds. He is the author and co-author of more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals, about 30 presentations at international scientific meetings, and 2 patents.

Connie Medlen obtained a BSc (agric) in Microbiology in 1964, an MSc in 1982 and a Ph.D in Immunology in 1986 (at the age of 43). Up till now she has been employed by the University of Pretoria for 43 years after which she retired. Twenty nine MSc and nine PhD completed their studies under her supervision. After 4 years of retirement she returned to the University of Pretoria, Faculty of Medical Sciences as Research Mentor. She has published 128 research papers in ISI accredited international journals and presented at 44 International Conferences.

Kim Lawson received a BTech in pharmacology in 1981 from University of Bradford (UK) and a PhD in pharmacology in 1986 from the University of Sunderland (UK) and has an international reputation in Drug Discovery Research, gained in multinational pharmaceutical industries (France: Rhone-Poulenc Sante, Recherche Syntex France; Belgium: Sanofi-Labaz; UK: Reckitt & Colman, British Biotech) and academia. His research interests are focused on the pharmacology of potassium channels and to the identification of treatments of fibromyalgia. Kim is regularly invited as a consultant to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries & affiliated organizations, to talk at public events & scientific conferences and to write 'expert opinion' articles for scientific and clinical journals. He is a member of Advisory Boards to the Fibromyalgia Association UK and FibroAction, in addition to being a Patron to Folly Pogs Fibromyalgia Research UK.

Dr Kim Lawson is a research pharmacologist with an international reputation in Drug Discovery Research. He has broad research experience gained in both academia and in multinational pharmaceutical industries.

Maria Elena de Lima is a professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil. She was the Head of this Department and the President of the Ethical Committee on Research involving Humain Beings of UFMG. She obtained her PhD in Neurosciences in 1988 at Marseille University, in France. Dr. De Lima’s research interests include studying biochemistry and pharmacological activities of peptides purified from animal venoms, as spiders, Scorpions and snakes, having biotechnological potential, i.e. antimicrobial, insecticidal, antinociceptive and active on erectile function. She is author of more than 90 papers/book chapters in peer-reviewed journals/books, editor of two scientif books and has several patents. She was advisor of about 40 master and doctoral students.

Walber Toma has completed his PhD at the age of 30 years from University of Campinas (Unicamp) from Brazil. He is the researcher of the Department of Ecology from Santa Cecília University (Unisanta) and also from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in São Camilo University (São Camilo). In Santa Cecília University he is the main researcher of a Laboratory of Natural Products that seeks ethnopharmacological informations from the south coast populations of São Paulo state. He is also the director of an specialization course in Clinical Pharmacology at Unisanta. He has published more than 30 papers on the following subjects: ethnopharmacology, gastroprotective activity of plant extracts, toxicology and ecotoxicology assays from natural products.
