Karen Mulkijanyan is the Head of the Department of Pharmacology at Tbilisi State Medical University Institute of Pharmacochemistry and Adviser on Technology Commercialization to aforesaid Institute’s Administration. He obtained his MS in Biochemistry in 1981 and PhD in Pharmacy in 2005. Dr. Mulkijanyan’s research interests include studying the pharmacology of anti-inflammatory and wound healing drugs and analysis and prediction of structure-activity relationship of natural, modified and synthesized compounds. He is the author and co-author of more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals, about 30 presentations at international scientific meetings, and 2 patents.

Tejani-Butt teaches courses in central nervous system physiology and pharmacology, special topics in Neuropsychopharmacology, endocrine physiology and pharmacology and drug-receptor interactions. She is a member of many national and local organizations, including the Society for Neuroscience, World Women in Neuroscience, and served on NIH expert panel of Grant study section for several years. She has been the recipient of extramural funding from NIH, foundations and pharmaceutical companies for the past 25 years.

Amr Amin is a Professor of Cell & Molecular Biology and a graduate faculty at UAE University. He earned his PhD in Cell & Developmental Biology from University of Illinois at Chicago and received a postdoctoral training in Molecular Genetics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After joining UAEU, Dr. Amin’s focus was redirected to the field of preventive medicine. His lab is interested in natural product-based protection against cancer. Most recently, his lab has been employing non-invasive approaches and nanoparticles to learn more about the molecular aspects of chemoprevention particularly against liver cancer. He published many research articles, reviews and book chapters in reputable journals. He also serves on the editorial boards and as a reviewer of many international journals. Dr. Amin is also the recipient of many national and international awards.

Amr Amin research interests focus biology and chemoprevention of cancer, preclinical studies, and novel plant-based anticancer drugs.

Ming Lei, Ph.D., is director of the Division for Research Capacity Building. He oversees the Institute’s capacity-building programs, which include the Institutional Development Award (IDeA), Support of Competitive Research (SCORE), and Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH), as well as the Science Education Partnerships Awards (SEPA).

Gerald C. Hsu received an honorable PhD in mathematics and majored in engineering at MIT. He attended different universities over 17 years and studied seven academic disciplines. He has spent 20,000 hours in T2D research. First, he studied six metabolic diseases and food nutrition during 2010-2013, then conducted research during 2014-2018. His approach is “math-physics and quantitative medicine” based on mathematics, physics, engineering modeling, signal processing, computer science, big data analytics, statistics, machine learning, and AI. His main focus is on preventive medicine using prediction tools. He believes that the better the prediction, the more control you have.

After completion of his postdoctoral training at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Gautam Sethi joined Department of Pharmacology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2008 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2015. The focus of his research over the past few years has been to elucidate the mechanism (s) of activation of oncogenic transcription factors such as NF-kB/STAT3 by carcinogens and inflammatory agents and the identification of novel inhibitors of these proteins for prevention of and therapy for cancer. The findings of his research work have so far resulted in more than two hundred and fifty scientific publications in high impact factor peer reviewed journals (with h index = 74) and several international awards. He currently serves as an Academic Editor for PLOS, editorial board member of Cancer Letters, Scientific Reports, Pharmacological Research, World Journal of Pharmacology, BMC Cancer, Frontiers in Pharmacology, Frontiers in Oncology, International Journal of Biological Sciences, Journal of Functional Foods, Journal of Natural Products in Cancer Prevention and Therapy, and ad-hoc reviewer for several other prestigious international journals.

The focus of his research over the past few years has been to elucidate the mechanism (s) of activation of transcription factors NF-κB and STAT3 by carcinogens and inflammatory agents and the identification of novel inhibitors of NF-κB and STAT3 for prevention of and therapy for cancer. From natural sources, his group has identified numerous small molecules that can suppress NF-κB and STAT3 activation and inhibit TNF/IL-6 signaling. Thus, these agents have potential treatment properties for numerous inflammatory diseases, including cancer and are not toxic. Moreover, the results his research work have so far resulted in more than hundred scientific publications in high impact factor peer reviewed journals and several international research awards.
