Biography
Maria V Tejada-Simon is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Biology and Psychology, and member of the Biology of Behavior Institute at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. Current research in her laboratory examines the role of small GTP-binding proteins in cognition, with emphasis in mental retardation, schizophrenia, neurodegenerative as well as autistic disorders.

• Small GTPases in LTP, hippocampus-dependent learning and memory. • Implication of small GTPases in defective synaptic plasticity. • Rac1-dependent regulation of neuronal morphology in cognitive disabilities. • Therapeutic potential of small GTPase inhibition in Fragile X syndrome
